Goodbye Jambessa

Or should i say goodbye nessa rose, or nurse nessa, or mulan (lets get down to business) Is that racist? Where to start? I guess it all began at a certain thai restaurant where kristel and i discovered sadly that our inability to eat certain foods is now referred to by some as a limitation (not the R word, nardys!) However i didn't care when our dessert came out and to my surprise it was delicious. Call me what you want just let me have mango and rice . Awesome !!! That wasn't the end of our love of the culinary experiences. This blog is a direct response of our love of good food.
Then there is our tribute to an awesome movie however disturbing it might be. Silence of the lambs. "It puts the lotion in the basket" , "dr. Lector sir?" good times. :)
I will miss you , if i haven't already. Who is going to ignore the customers and answer them by looking up at the ceiling.?
We can still find those tacos. They are worth the drive all the way to the san gabriel valley!
Don't forget us
Love MAL

Grand Central Market

One of the best places to eat in downtown los angeles is the grand central market. It is located between broadway and hill st. You can get anything from frozen yogurt to herbal medicines. The breakfast is good at joe's (i think that's it. It's on the far left wall and there is usually just one girl running it, but she makes a mean breakfast.) If you go for lunch you will find that the many mexican taco places to eat are excellent, just make sure to bring your token mexican friend so they can order for you. They will probably give your friend a better taco than they give you. :) Whatever you do bring your own water to drink through out the day. They will charge you 50 cents for ice or water. That was my experience (where are you charm?) If you are so inclined you can go across the street on the hill st. side and ride the historical angels flight and go to the park where they filmed 500 days of summer and sit on the exact bench where summer and tom visited tom's favorite place in the city. Awesome!!!!!!

Peaches and cream

Well this blog is supposed to be about places to go with great food, so here goes. One of my favourite places to eat breakfast is this cozy cafe in monrovia called PEACH CAFE. This place has the feeling that you are in small town america but also has an urban feel to it. The wait staff is always pleasant and friendly even to the extent of sitting at the table with you to take your order. You never have to wait long to get a seat, even though the place is always packed with locals. The food is amazing ! One of my favorites is the eggs florentine . It's a lovely melange of sweet and salty made with a light and airy cornbread merely acting as the english muffins. It's enough to share with someone. Some other favourites of mine are the chocolate french toast (made with croissants) and blueberry pancakes are great as well . Always make sure to check out the specials. This place is definitely one of those out of the way finds you'll be glad you found.

disneyland and dinner

went to disneyland last nite and felt a little like i was at magic mountain. went to park and ended up on the roof (those of you who know me know i like being on the top of the parking structure). then there was no disney employee or as i like to call em, target team members guiding the cars in so there was utter chaos trying to find a spot. finally found one and on to the escalators that were not working and naturally people didn't know how to walk down stairs. so that took awhile . had to pee and the first stall i found was missing a door, at that point i knew i was in valencia not anaheim.after that it was smooth sailing and ultimately had a good time, rode some rides and had a delicious chinese chicken salad at pizza port. i highly recommend it. if you are debating between the pizza or a salad just because you wanted satisfy that nagging need for bread, then get the salad and the focaccia bread on the side. if you're an annual passholder don't forget to get your discount. One more thing people this is disneyland "the happiest place on earth". why are there so many crying children. Just like there is no crying in baseball there should be no crying at disneyland. If there is one place you should say yes to your children it is here not toys r us.

January and Ice Cream Sandwiches.

Diddy Riese = FAIL, IMO.

Surprisingly, it was my first time visiting, considering I've resided here in the valley the past 21 years. Once there, parking wasn't that difficult, but then again we were lucky and had a handicap decal. From what I've seen and read in the past, lines can get really long, but it only took about 5-10mins. As I was approaching an associate, I was delighted to see the how cheap it was! $1.50 for an ice cream sandwich, not just any sandwich, but a customized one if you like. Being under pressure, I chose Chocolate chip with walnuts for both cookies and vanilla ice cream. My creation just did not work out. In my opinion, sweet written all over it; chocolate chunks were too big, size of cookie was too thick and the vanilla was too much to handle.

I know this won't be my last visit, considering how popular it is, perhaps I just made the wrong ice cream sandwich for me, possibly Cookies and cream or Mint chocolate chip (if the have it) as an ice cream selection the next visit.

New beginnings.

This is a new beginning. We finally got this up and running.
